Woodwind Instruments:
Flutes: The serial number is usually engraved on the body of the flute, near the foot joint or on the head joint near the tenon.
Clarinets: Look for the serial number on the lower joint, usually near the tenon or on the back side of the instrument.
Saxophones: The serial number is typically engraved on the back of the body, near the bottom of the instrument, often on the bow or under the thumb rest.
Oboes and Bassoons: The serial number can be found on the back or side of the instrument, often near the bell or on the upper joint.
Brass Instruments:
Trumpets and Cornets: The serial number is generally located on the valve casing, either between the second and third valves or on the leadpipe near the mouthpiece.
Trombones: Check the serial number on the slide receiver or on the bell section, usually on the inner slide or the tuning slide.
French Horns: The serial number is often engraved on the valve casing or the bell section, sometimes on the leadpipe near the mouthpiece.
Tubas and Euphoniums: The serial number can usually be found on the valve casing or on the bell section, often near the mouthpiece or tuning slides.
String Instruments:
Violins, Violas, Cellos, and Double Basses: The serial number is typically found inside the instrument, on a label visible through the f-hole.
